The hotel lies in a building built in the late 1920s in neoclassical style. It was formerly the site of the Atlas factory, which produced railway machines, and the factory’s headquarters were located at the same place where the hotel lies nowadays. In 1927, the factory was moved to the outskirts of Stockholm and the beautiful new residential area now known as the Atlas area took shape.<\/p>\n
In the same building where the hotel is located lived Anders Franz\u00e9n who discovered the Royal ship Vasa in the 1950s. Between 1931 and 1941, the famous children’s author Astrid Lindgren lived on Vulcanusgatan and according to her, Karlsson-on-the-Roof itself lived in this area.<\/p>\n
Hotel business has been operating in the building since the 1940s. Wasa Park Hotel opened its doors in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
